question:
Christian, how was the race from the cockpit perspective?
Christian Klien:
My start was good, I could overtake a few cars and was in P18 soon. I got into a very good rhythm and kept my team mate behind me. I managed to avoid Kobayashi's car who was stranded on the side before Bruno collided with him. It is a shame I could not finish the race, as I had to retire with hydraulic problems at my second pit stop.
question:
How did coming back after four years feel?
Christian Klien:
For a comeback Singapore is probably one of the worst circuits with the high temperatures and the humidity. But there is no better thing than being on the starting grid of a Formula One race. As a reserve driver you wait for years for this day to happen. When it happens you have little time to think about it. From Friday morning till qualifying we worked flat out to get the car in the right direction. But already yesterday I felt this special tension you never get as a test driver. Of course you are a little nervous when you have been away for so long. But this kind of tension is quite good in sports to bring out the best in an athlete.
question:
What does the nearer future hold for you?
Christian Klien:
Singapore was a one-off to replace Sakon Yamamoto. Anything else is not in my hands. It was really great to be feeling like a proper racing driver again and I do hope I could make my mark this weekend.
